SOME IMPORTANT FACTS CONCERNING CONTOUR FLEX BEDS
As we are currently operating within the bedding industry, specialising in Wall Beds over the last 2 years, we have recently done extensive research with regards to beds and mattresses in Europe, as we supply Murphy wall beds, as well as Belitec roll out beds to South Africa, which are very popular in Europe.
We strive to stay ahead with the new trends from Europe and within this document you will see that I refer to the pie charts of the current stats across the European markets currently with regards to beds, and mattresses.
WITH REGARD TO MATTRESSES
Our finding was as follows with regard to market share:
- Spring mattresses 28%
- Latex mattresses 25%
- Cold foam mattresses 38%
- Water mattresses 2%
- other 7%
As you can see from this pie chart, Cold Foam is by far the winning mattress with regards to penetration in Europe. The interesting thing is that there is no Cold Foam currently available in South Africa, and as true Pioneers we have taken it upon ourselves to launch here as South Africans have the same needs when it comes to sleeping as the Europeans do.
Furthermore the Cold Foam mattress which is on a par to the Memory or Latex mattresses, has one huge added benefit versus the latter, that is with the South African climate, specifically the heat factor, and the fact that the latter two mentioned beds don't breath as well as Cold Foam, one could end up perspiring allot more on the other two mattresses mentioned.

As you can see from the pie chart, Wooden Slats are by far the winning bed section, with regards to penetration in Europe.
There are currently only a few retailers selling similar items within South Africa, however as these beds are fairly technical, we have decided to go with the German design, which includes Hetich a very well known brand, for the mechanical part of
the bed, as they offer a excellent quality product as well as a very good back up
service. Once you have slept on a motorized wooden slatted bed with a cold foam mattress, you will never be able to return to whatever you were sleeping on before.
